TAPP training is a five day training that, involves participates from all over Uganda and neighboring countries. They are either pastors or Christians who are willing to be volunteers. Some of these volunteers are living with HIV and AIDS.
Through out the training we cover a variety of topics that are essential to the care of persons living with HIV/AIDS. Here are some of those topics:
* Basic facts of HIV and AIDS
* Transmission and prevention of HIV and AIDS
* Impact of HIV and AIDS
* Physical needs of people living with HIV and AIDS
* Stigma and discriminations
* Nutrition in HIV and AIDS
* Social support and networking
* Couple counseling
* Bereavement counseling
* Home based care
* ARVS among others
After the five day training is completed participates are given bicycles to help them as they move from church to church or village to village to share and create awareness about HIV/AIDS. They are also given the TAPP T-shirt and Certificates of Attendance to identify them as having been trained in the social and spiritual are of person living with HIV/AIDS. Bibles and bags for Home-Based Care are also give to aid them along their journey.
The training is conducted without cost to the participants. TAPP pays for all the essentials of the training, including food, facilitation fees, bicycles, transportation to and from the training, medication during the training, and the mobilization fee. After the training is complete, participants are encouraged to go back home and share with others about the dangers of HIV and AIDS. Behavior change is encouraged during the training.
